USSPCE-867was aPCE-842-classpatrol craftfor theUnited States NavyduringWorld War II.She was renamedROCSYong Tai(PCE-41)andROCSShan Hai(PCE-62)after being acquired by theRepublic of China Navyon 7 February 1948.

Construction and career

PCE-867waslaid downbyAlbina Engineer & Machine Works,Portlandon 8 July 1942 andlaunchedon 3 December 1942. She wascommissionedon 20 June 1943.[1]

After the war on 12 September 1945, she was transferred to the Republic of China Navy as ROCSYong Tai(PCE-41) under theLend-Lease program.Yong Tai was commissioned on an unknown date under the command ofLieutenant ColonelWang Enhua.[2]On 8 June 1947,Yong Taiwas transiting fromHuludaotoQingdaowhen a newly assignedsecond lieutenantJi Rui armed with a gun fired 7 shots on board the ship, injuring thecaptain,Lieutenant Colonel Li Yuxi and two other officers.Naval officerZheng Jiamo was killed during the incident. On the 17th, the ship then arrived inQingdaoand the Qingdao naval authorities were notified of the incident.[2]

On 1 January 1954, the naval fleet was reorganized thus,Yong Taiwas renamed to Shan Hai (PCE-62).[2]

During the midnight of 13 November 1965, the ship alongsideROCS Linhuai (AM-51)were underway southeast ofWuqiuwhen they came under attack during theFirst Taiwan Strait Crisis.Shan Haiwould then be scrapped on an unknown date.[1]
