Ultra Fractalis afractalgeneration and renderingsoftware application. The program was the first publicly available fractal software which featured layering methods previously only found in image editing software.[1]Because of this, the program has become popular for use in the creation offractal art.
Ultra Fractal iscommercial software, but an evaluation version is freely available. Theunregisteredversion createswatermarkedrenders.
Features
[edit]Ultra Fractal israsterbased.[2] The program works using a similar paradigm toPhotoshop, allowing multiple layers to be combined usinglayer blending modes, transformations, and custom fractalformulas.Fractal formulas, coloringalgorithms, and transformations may be written by users, and a large number of such formulafilesare available in a public formuladatabase.Fractals may becopiedfrom the interface and pasted as plain text into anemail. There is a busymailing liston which many users post their parameter sets.[citation needed]
Calculation usingarbitrary precision arithmeticis supported, allowing users to zoom to a magnification of 104000.
TheGUIis customizable with a dockableMDI.The software calculatesstatisticsabout the fractal that is being previewed. Other features include fullscreen mode, color cycling, a render queue, distributedrendering calculations, and a detailed help file. Version 4 added support foranimationsand improvedflame fractalrendering.
Formulae fromFractint,an early and widely used piece offractal-generating software, have been converted to an UltraFractal formula file.[citation needed]
