Introduction to contentious topics
[edit]You have recently been editingFalun Gongwhich has been designated acontentious topic.This standard message is designed as an introduction to contentious topics anddoesnotimply that there are any issues with your editing.
A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to ascontentious topics.These are specially-designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should editcarefullyandconstructively,refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:
- adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
- comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
- follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
- comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
- refrain from gaming the system.
Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topicsproceduresyou may ask them at thearbitration clerks' noticeboardor you may learn more about this contentious topichere.You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the{{Ctopics/aware}}template.

Regarding your edits atTiananmen Square self-immolation incident
[edit]Hi AAAAA143222, I appreciate your effort to protect Wikipedia from unsourced materials. But you appear to have inadvertantly removed reliably sourced content, such as inthis editand subsequent ones: you're right thatDanny Schechter's2000 bookdoes not contain that material, but Schechter authored an updated editionherepublished in 2001 that does contain the removed material. If you'd like to verify, I can send screenshots of the book to you. So, please help restore the content you removed. Thank you,Thomas Meng(talk)00:16, 25 July 2023 (UTC)
- Okay, I willAAAAA143222(talk)01:06, 27 July 2023 (UTC)
- Hi, sorry for the delay. In the revised version of Danny Schechter's book, the dispute over the Tiananmen self-immolation incident on January 23rd, 2001, are opinions of the Falun Gong practitioners (with some exceptions). Therefore, I will move most of the deleted content to the section titled "Falun Gong response" and replace some Falun Gong sources. Is that okay?AAAAA143222(talk)16:08, 11 October 2023 (UTC)
