Early glassmaking in the United States[edit]

@Amandajm:I noticed you are the creator ofEarly glassmaking in the United States.Thank you for your work on glassmaking. I would like to upgrade this article with the goal of Good Article. I would add something about the Germans in New England during the 1700s, the impact of tariffs in the early 1800s,Deming Jarves(red lead andNew England Glass Company), Benjamin Bakewell (Bakewell Glass,Pittsburgh as a glassmaking center, andpressed glass), and William Leighton Sr. (J. H. Hobbs, Brockunier and Companyand the discovery of the long-lost soda-lime formula for glass). The first section would be about Jamestown, but it would be smaller. I would also add a paragraph about general glassmaking procedures (some of which is in your Production section). (Michael Owensis the one American glassmaking great that would not be discussed, since his contributions to the industry are somewhat beyond "early".) This would mean "messing" with a lot of your hard work. If this offends you, I will leave things alone—I don't want to make anyone unhappy or even uncomfortable. If I can add this to my list of projects, I would not start immediately because I am working on other things. Your thoughts?TwoScars(talk) 15:48, 18 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, I'm just letting you know that the above Good Article (promoted between 2006 and 2009) is very far away from thethe current good article criteria(specifically criterion 2b); I was going to nominate it atWP:GARbefore I noticed that you, the original nominator, are still semi-active. If you would like to work on it to try and retain the rating, or if you feel that you can't bring it to current standards, please ping me and let me know. Best wishes,~~ AirshipJungleman29(talk) 10:14, 7 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
