Is "very violent," [6] "in dark ignorance from the citation quivalent to" criminals "? You just reverted to the wrong version without fully reading the reference. Gary Locke

[edit]

The author of the article doesn't describe any of the letters quoted as "racist" either. She only quotes a politician describing them as such. So if we're going to be sticklers for the original research rule, should we edit the article to say "Susan Paynter, a columnist at the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, suggested that [threats characterized as" racist "] and insults that Locke and his family received, especially the large number which came after his rebuttal to George W. Bush's 2003 State of the Union address, played a role in Locke's decision to leave office after two terms.

If not, and we're just going to label it racist without attribution because it obviously is a racist letter, then what's the problem with the description of "illogical" which is at least equally true?

re: hanja

[edit]

I do for the most part. Problem is there is too much biased information with negative inferences as well as the fact that almost nothing in Hanja, Hangul, anything Korean related, has any references.

Unfornuately editors believe they are widely accepted and feel they are valid even without citations.—Precedingunsignedcomment added by99.238.13.18(talkcontribs) 10:53 UTC, 15 February 2008

Good catch on theKathleen Stephensarticle. The bit about Montana was in her State Department bio. "Ms. Stephens grew up in the American Southwest and now calls western Montana home." Hey there, I'm not sure if there's something you know that I don't, but the reason "Japanese Language School" was bolded was because it is often referred to as such. Cheers,Murderbike(talk)02:22, 3 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, in my research I figured that's how it tranlated. And a lot of my sources spelled the two worded way. I just figured that any way it's referred to needed to go in. Cheers,Murderbike(talk)03:14, 3 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What, pray tell, is going on with that article? An IP address posts an AFD, a registered user proclaims it a "fake" or a "test" and sets up a second one, which is then marked as a "duplicate" and we're referred back to the first "fake" one. What's up with all this?Baseball BugsWhat's up, Doc?10:08, 7 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I apologize for causing the unintended trouble.BlueAg09(Talk)10:11, 7 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The article is currently pointing to an AFD that's marked as closed as being a duplicate. It's like there are 2 or 3 versions of the AFD running around. That's the first time I can recall seeing something like that. Could you [the admin] please mark the article with thecorrectAFD and tell everyone to stop messing around with it? Thank you.:)Baseball BugsWhat's up, Doc?10:12, 7 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Tiananmen Square protests

[edit]

Doesn't it? It seems that the two terms are used in a fairly confused way in general speech. When people talk about the "Tiananmen Square massacre", they are often talking about the whole series of events building up to the crackdown. Real life language is not clear cut, and inference from individual words is original research. --PalaceGuard008(Talk)12:51, 14 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

1912 Typhoon #8

[edit]

Hi again, cab.

In searching for information on SS Kiche Maru I've found a lot of links that would be relevant to the typhoon that caused the shipwreck. Many of these are official government sources. The New York Times links require Proquest but you may be able to get the same article from the free archives. Happy researching!
