BLP policy

[edit]

I need to draw your attention toWikipedia:Biographies of living persons,our policy concerning living people. Your edits toTalk:Karl Ridderbuschviolate that policy, specifically:

  • "Editors must take particular care when adding information about living persons toanyWikipedia page.... Contentious material about living persons (or, in some cases, recently deceased) that is unsourced or poorly sourced – whether the material is negative, positive, neutral, or just questionable – should be removed immediately and without waiting for discussion."

I have therefore removed the section you created because it contains contentious material about a living person that is not sourced to anything we would consider reliable. Please take the time to read that policy, and be sure that you understand: (1) that it applies to talk pages just as much as does articles; and (2) that re-adding that material is likely to lead to you losing editing privileges on Wikipedia. --RexxS(talk)00:45, 4 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I took an interest in the article on theNome Kingand added additional sources and analysis. I could find, however, relatively few books of literary analysis about him. They largely define him as a symbol of capitalism, tyranny, and slavery.

F13 series

[edit]

First, there is no policy that states anything of the sort. You are referring to the manual of style, which is a guideline. Secondly, the source request is not about the plot summaries, it's about the dates of the show. There has been plenty of confusion regarding the actual dates of airing for the series, and episodes airing out of order. There are no sources on the page for that. Thus, the tag is accurate and should not be removed until the dates can be reliably sourced.BIGNOLE(Contact me)21:38, 16 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Misspelled or incorrect page names

[edit]

It can happen, in fact it happens very often and it's frustrating for new users who don't know what to do, and Wikipedia does not offer adequate help or information. That said, such errors are not rectified by recreating the article under its correct name (it was one of the first mistakes I made 10years ago) - that can cause problems with the integrity of the page history which is the record of attribution. To find out what to do please seeWP:MOVE.It's really very easy when you know what to do. Happy editing. --Kudpung กุดผึ้ง(talk)22:32, 5 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. I saw your question on Michael's talk page. Grad student suicides

[edit]

Saw yournote.Hereis your answer, assuming Lam (who had joined Corey's group 10 days earlier) was indeed a suicide; although he's often reported as a suicide, I'm not sure the cause of his death was ever made public (see ref for green quote that follows). Be aware (cf. UNDUE, BLP etc.), despite the prominence of Altom's suicide, it's a problem far beyond any one lab or department: Corey is far from the only professor who had a reputation for being shall-we-say "difficult", and at least five students at Harvard (grad + undergrad) killed themselves in just one academic year:Altom's death marks the fifth suicide within the University community during the 1997-98 academic year, and the second suicide within the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences (GSAS).[1]And of course not just Harvard.[2][3]And, counting secondary students, it's just horrific in India: oneevery hour.[4]regards,Middle 8(tc|privacyCOI)17:59, 12 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Firstly, it's all very well and good ifFriday the 13this the only role of hers you've seen or care about, but she (a) has had bigger roles in other films that count toward passage of NACTOR's "significant roles" criterion; (b) has Gemini and Dora award nominations under her belt, which are in the tier of awards that constitute an automatic pass of NACTOR's award criterion; and (c) has and cites the sources needed to get her over GNG. Any one of those three would be enough in and of itself; having all three is the equivalent of hitting a home run with all three bases already loaded.Bearcat(talk)03:17, 10 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

When adding links to material on external sites, as you did toMargaret Price,please ensure that the external site is notviolating the creator's copyright.Linking to websites that display copyrighted works is acceptable as long as the website's operator has created or licensed the work. Knowingly directing others to a site that violates copyright may be considered contributory infringement. This is particularly relevant when linking to sites such asYouTubeorSci-Hub,where due care should be taken to avoid linking to material that violates its creator's copyright. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violatorswill beblockedfrom editing.

If you believe the linked site isnotviolating copyright with respect to the material, then you should do one of the following:

  • If the linked site is the copyright holder, leave a message explaining the details on the articleTalk page;
  • If a note on the linked site credibly claims permission to host the material, or a note on the copyright holder's site grants such permission, leave a note on the articleTalk pagewith a link to where we can find that note;
  • If you are the copyright holder or the external site administrator, adjust the linked site to indicate permission as above and leave a note on the articleTalk page;

If the material is available on a different site that satisfies one of the above conditions, link to that site instead. Not to worry! I'll fix that later today.HandsomeMrToad(talk)17:23, 30 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Good start. I added further, and it's almost there for DYK, just the line "frequently performed in recitals..." needs a reference, please. --Gerda Arendt(talk)13:37, 7 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

today:two women whose birthday we celebrate today, 99 and 90! --Gerda Arendt(talk)11:42, 28 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Very nice! I sang some sacred music by Bortnyanski once upon a time long ago, in a college choir specializing in USSR and the satellite states, but never Vedel.
Tomorrow I am singing Dr. Spinelloccio and the Notary (Amantio) in a concert-performance ofGianni Schicchi,with a whole ensemble of singers who are in a league far above my own. Each of these guys is the real item, abona fiderising opera star, not a perennial dilettante like me. If I can manage to avoid embarrassing myself, I'll try to post a video, or at least an audio, to YouTube.
And later in the month I'm singing Hunding!HandsomeMrToad(talk)05:30, 12 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Precious
Five years!

And how was performing?--Gerda Arendt(talk)07:51, 27 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Gianni Schicchi? It was kind of a disaster for me. Lately I have been having "senior moments" and losing count while on stage, and I missed a number of entrances. I am restricting my repertoire to material I already know very well, and avoiding rapid, bewildering pieces like Schicchi for the time being. Thank you for asking.
Hunding was better.HandsomeMrToad(talk)03:50, 28 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for sharing. Gianni Schicchi was my second opera, and I loved it immediately;) - for my latest experiences, seehere--Gerda Arendt(talk)06:41, 28 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, it's an hilarious opera, and the music is eerily catchy, and it rises to tremendous orgasmic climaxes in several sections. I love the trio the women sing; as our director said, it's a vulgar comedy and suddenly the Rheinmaidens are there.HandsomeMrToad(talk)08:05, 28 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That's a great director;) --Gerda Arendt(talk)08:14, 28 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
He's kind of an amazing man. He was very nice to me about the errors and said he was planning to hire me again in spite of them. We have bonded, partly because a close relative of his died of Parkinson's (which I also have) and he likes the idea of using singing as a kind of physical therapy for Parkinson's.HandsomeMrToad(talk)16:51, 28 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
