Sustainable Australia Ideology

[edit]

Dear Leo Crnogorcevic,

I have removed your edits once again. Sustainability is defined as: "The ability to be maintained at a certain rate or level."

This definition applies to both sustainable australia's position on population (not-just immigration), development, as well as several other areas in the policy page i found on their website. As this definition both adequate and overarching, there is no need for the additions you provided.

Furthermore most of the references you provided are out-dated, from biased organisations, are secondary sources with no citation of any primary source, or refer to a completely different organisation with the same name.

Football vs Soccer

[edit]

Thanks for your edit today atFFA Cup,but I've had to revert it, because as per convention on hundreds of Wikipedia articles on football/soccer, the consensus has been that the Australian articles will be referred to as soccer rather than football. I personally disagree with this convention, but that's where those on the Football task force have landed - after much debate - for articles on this sport for countries like Australia, NZ and USA, where it is commonly referred to as soccer.Matilda Maniac(talk)10:30, 24 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Great work on the Nossal page!

[edit]

Great job on the Nossal page - I didn't know that there was an outdoor IRC or an SRC meeting space. I'm curious to see what the outdoor IRC looks like; I'll have to see if I can find it. Also, interesting about Maria Sampey - she's actually someone for whom "Independent Labor" sounds like a good title. Also, the Casey Council countback is tomorrow. I haven't tried calculating who will take the place, but it is my sincere hope that it is *not* Rowe.:DOrthogonal1(talk)01:35, 2 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added toCategory:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found atWP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Victorian election

[edit]

Like the changes you've made to the 2018 article. But is there a specific reference for how you've calculated the two-party-preferred vote in the lower house and if so could you include or add a note explaining where the tpp comes from or how you've calculated it? Checking the VEC website there isn't a statewide TPP vote, just in most divisions. I've put the references back above the results tables as well.Global-Cityzen(talk)09:21, 14 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks mate, I basically added up the TPP figures from each district. It's pretty annoying that the VEC doesn't post statewide TPP figures like the AEC does. I think the adding-up approach is the same one editors took for the 2014 article as well.--LeoC12(talk)10:12, 14 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Reverts you made to Australian Country Party (2004)

[edit]

Recent Edits to Australian_Country_Party_(2004)

[edit]

I originally put this reply to your edits to the Australian_Country_Party_(2004) on the page talk. I have now placed it here for your review.

All edits were cited and as noted below, we should have deleted both of the nationalism ideologies as the Party has made wholesale changes to itself

I am writing re the recent reversals to amendments to the Wiki page for the Party.

I note that all edits were cited and the change of Leadership was official with Party formal internal procedures. There is no ability to Cite the internal changes of Leadership of the party.

The party has completely changed its direction and political positioning to a grassroots democracy ideology and we should have also deleted the 2 nationalism ones as well.

We are no longer a rural-focused party and this change occurred in July 2017.

Our Position is definitely Broad-Centre, and again this was cited to our recent media release that clearly demonstrated this.[1]

The opening paragraph, that has the first sentence utilised in the google search box had the two sentences just reversed so the current details of the party sho not the 15 year old history that also provides the impression of the old rural focus of the party.

I respectfully request that all the recent edits are reinstated, plus the deletion of the Australian Nationalism and Economic Nationalism as these are no longer reflected in the new direction of the party again cited to the media release that announced all the new details and direction of the party.

The way the Wiki page now reads, as it has been returned to the old content is related to the old Party under the old leadership and direction, Ideology and political positioning.

I look forward to your review of the recent media release and our website to see we have definitely changed who we are and where we are heading.

Media Release[2]Website[3]

we have also removed all our policies as we develop new ones and will be updating our core values and position statements in conjunction with feedback from people around the country in our new FaceBook Policy Discussion Group.[4]

I look forward to a quick return to the current and correct information for the Party as edited earlier this week.

Fixes Required to Australian Country Party (2004) Page

[edit]

Dear Leo,

Please find below the fixes required to bring our page up to date and reflect who and what we now are.

Thank You,

Glenn O'Rourke

Required updates to ensure Wiki Page Reflects the truth of who the Australian Country Party is from December 2018

[edit]

Below are reverted edits that I believe should be reintroduced based on the factual information included and cited. I have provided the coded text, including cites to make the job easier for whoever takes on the fixing of our Page to bring it up to date and reflect who we are in 2019.

I note that I have a conflict of Interest as the New Federal Chairman of the Party and so I require someone to review and confirm the facts being presented, so they can be updated on the page.

Please note the additions to the Cate Speaks reference placed by one of your editors. There are notes there after I communicated directly with Cate.

1. Ideology - Grassroots Democracy, Australian Nationalism, Economic Nationalism

We do not believe that our patriotic positions are actually - Australian Nationalism and Economic Nationalism, but a broad patriotic position that is embraced by the majority of Australians of all nationality backgrounds and definitely not right wing.

We are definitely not social conservative.

| ideology =Grassroots democracy
Australian nationalism
Economic nationalism[5][6][7]

2. Political Position - Broad-Center

| position =broad-center[8][6][9]

3. Opening Paragraph

We are not a Victorian only Based Party and further, we are not "dedicated solely to the interests of regional communities", and was created to provide an alternative to the National Party in country Victoria. That Statement is historic and the Parties National Focus Commenced mid-2018.

The Suggested opening statements for the page are:

TheAustralian Country Party(ACP) is a Federaly Registered political party[10],headquartered and also registered in the Australian state ofVictoria.[11]It has previously been named theCountry Allianceand theAustralian Country Alliance.

The party is focused on grassroots national issues, describing itself as a "Truly Democratic, Grass Roots Political Party for Australia", and provides an alternative to theAustralian Labor Party,Liberal Party of AustraliaandNational Party of Australiaas a voice for all Australians.[12]

The Australian Country Party has commenced its national expansion with the application for registration in the Northern Territory.[13]

In closing, I believe there should be some reflection to the complete change of Ideology, Positioning and direction the Party has embarked on in line with the Party Media Release widely distributed on January 15. A link to the media release is here -[14]

Thank you to whoever fixes our Page.

Regards, Glenn O'Rourke

Speedy deletion nomination of HP Boyz

[edit]

Hello LeoC12,

I wanted to let you know that I just taggedHP Boyzfor deletion, because the article doesn't clearly indicate why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you cancontest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note onmy talk pageif you have questions. Thanks!

Infobox changes

[edit]

I notice you have made a number of edits to the infoboxes of Australian MPs, replacing the constituency_MP and parliament fields with an office field containing "Member of Parliament for [Division]". Would you be able to explain and discuss the rationale for the change atWikipedia talk:WikiProject Australian politicsso we can get a consensus on this alteration to a widely-used convention? Croatian Parliament political groups

[edit]

Hi,

on July 31, 2020 I made changes to theCroatian Parliamentwebsite, which you undid two times on August 1, 2020. After the 2nd revert, you claimed you'rehappy to go to the talk page to gain consensus. That same day, I explained my views as to why I've made the changes. Since then, you haven't replied to my section on thetalkpage, even when it was your idea after all to do this. You undid my changes again on September 1, 2020, still with no reply on the mentioned talk page, just with the short explanation in the changes summary that you havenot had more time to address this on talkand that youagree with the editor before. I am now encouraging you to explain (either here or on thetalkpage) why you think my changes areillogicalandnonsensical, which I will be very open to hear. List of High Court cases

[edit]
Leo there is no claim being made that Chan is the most important High Court case. The table is navigable, with LawCite citations and dates able to be used to view the cases in an order for the reader. Please do not just randomly do a massive reversion to edits that took a high amount of effort; (including adding citation details, and citation statistics) without seeking consensus first.
The existing cases on the page were selected completely arbitrarily. There is no reason why the previous version of the page is better, other than conservatism and inertia. Please do not just randomly revert my bold edits. If you look at the page view statistics; you might also note that since my revision the page has seen a large uptick in viewership.Jack4576(talk)04:13, 15 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
No one, including me would claim that Chan Yee Kin v Minister for Immigration & Ethnic Affairs is the 'most important' Australian case ever. However, it is the most cited case. You might notice that before my bold edits, House v The King & Jones v Dunkel didn't even have entries. Those cases, especially house; ARE arguably the most important cases ever. I have reverted your reversion, and let us please continue this discussion on the article's talk pageJack4576(talk)04:15, 15 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hey – I want to reiterate once again that I know you've put in a lot of work in editing that article; I hate it when I do that too and somebody reverts it. This is why I'm suggesting that that table article of most cited articles is perhaps made into a separate article such as 'list of most cited HCA cases'. I just think that using LawCite is not a criterion that should feature in an article such as this one, especially since it is not a tool really used much by lawyers.
On the point of the uptick in viewership; I think that is a matter of causation vs correlation – I think this is attributable to media publicisation of proposed lawsuits to the HCA relating to the pandemic and emergency powers.
I think your point on seeking consensus equally applies to you too – you made these large edits on a longstanding article without really obtaining consensus either. Nevertheless, I'm willing to make a post on the article talk page/WikiProject Australian Law so that the issue is resolved.
In any case, I think an article likeList of United Kingdom Supreme Court casescould be a good compromise, since the table is broken up into distinct sections, and the citation information is absent.
No hard feelings man, I know we just both want the article to be the best there is.LeoC12(talk)09:12, 15 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I suspect that the increased viewership has come from interest in the page generated by this Reddit post; which was created by an internet stranger within a week of my actioning the consensus decision to put the whole page into a sortable table.LINK
I disagree with your objection to the use of LawCite statistics, they are just one of many variables that can be used to sort the table; as the wikipedia reader chooses. The reader is now able to sort the table by which court it was (as in the chief justice), the date decided, as well as LawCite statistics. In the previous page formatting; there is no ability for the reader to do any sorting at all.
I disagree with the need to create a new, almost totally redundant page just to include LawCite statistics. Why not just include it as one of the variables on the existing sortable list page?
My point on seeking consensus absolutely does not apply to me. My reformatting of the page into a sortable table, was in line with previous consensus being reached about the need to create a sortable table. The discussion on the page I was involved in with the user FindBruce; was at a stage where there existed two tables on the page. In an effort to accomodate the consensus that had been reached, I then consolidated it into ONE sortable table; which was the sortable table that you reverted. Note that consensus about making changes, is different to consensus for a bizzare, out of nowhere reversion; which is clearly outside of the wikipedia guidelines for reversion.
The List of UK Supreme court cases page absolutely is not a good compromise. How does that make any sense? The page is entirely the same as the High Court list; except it is split into year by year. The High Court has been operating for over 100 years, the UK Supreme Court has only been around for less than 20. So no, I am afraid I disagree with that page being a good compromise.
There are no hard feelings on my end, please refrain however from doing massive reverts in a way that exceeds the purpose of reversion under Wiki's guidelines.WP:STATUSQUO
Additionally, your reversion didn't only return the article to a prior formatting; it actually effectively deleted links that had been made to many of Australia's most important cases.Jack4576(talk)07:11, 17 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
