Control copyright iconHello Semmy1960! Your additions toUnilever Nigeria Plchave been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in thepublic domainor has been released by its owner or legal agent under asuitably-free and compatiblecopyright license. (To request such a release, seeWikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoidcopyrightandplagiarismissues.

  • You can only copy/translate asmallamount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with doublequotation marks( ") and cite the source using aninline citation. You can read about this atWikipedia:Non-free contentin the sections on "text". See alsoHelp:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all informationin your own words and structure,in properparaphrase.Following the source's words too closely can createcopyright problems,so it is not permitted here; seeWikipedia:Close paraphrasing.Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources toverifythe information and to demonstrate that the content is notoriginal research.
  • We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images.Fair useimages must meet all ten of thenon-free content criteriain order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
  • Ifyouown the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, youmaybe able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable,to the world, into either thepublic domain(PD) or under asuitably-free and compatiblecopyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. SeeWikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described atWikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.See alsoHelp:Translation#License requirements.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must beblockedfrom editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. —Diannaa(talk)19:56, 11 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation pages

[edit]

Please note that disambiguation pages likeCertificateare meant to help readers find a specificexistingarticle quickly and easily. For that reason, they have guidelines that are different from articles. From theWikipedia:Disambiguation dos and don'tsyou should:

  • Only list articles that readers might reasonably be looking for
  • Use short sentence fragment descriptions, with no punctuation at the end
  • Use exactly one navigable link ( "blue link" ) in each entry that mentions the title being disambiguated
  • Only add a "red link" if used in existing articles, and include a "blue link" to an appropriate article
  • Do not pipe links (unless style requires it) – keep the full title of the article visible
  • Do not insert external links or references - Wikipedia is not a business directory

Also, perMOS:NOSECTIONLINKS,section headings should not contain wikilinks.

Enjoy editing!Leschnei(talk)12:46, 30 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Semmy1960. I've recently had to fix several inappropriate links that you've added - I assume you're using some kind of tool to find them. Please ensure that before you add a link you check that it is actually relevant to the matter being discussed in the article - you've added links to Georgia (state) rather than George (country) and sometimes articles that have no connection at all to the word being linked (likethis). You're also sometimes adding too many links - we don't need to link every word that we can find an article for, and we usually only link a particular article once. It's great that you're trying to improve the encyclopaedia, but I've had to go through every single page you've edited to look for and fix errors, and that is creating work for other users. Please, take a second to check that what you're adding is helpful first. Thank you!ninety:one13:46, 9 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. Pages were suggested by boot that the links added to those pages were not enough. The pages were orphans. I will take my time to check them over again. Thanks for your observation. I am new here and I enjoy contributing to Wiki.Semmy1960(talk)13:58, 9 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

We are doing a project called Wikifactcheckers for media professionals. We want media professionals to be a part Of participants contributing to Wikipedia. Our IP address in Africa is shared. I have trained about 300 participants and i will never vandalise Wikipedia. I just finished a training for communication students, I just completed Reading Wikipedia in Classroom. Those accounts you might have seen are participants. Pricelessjosy is a trainer and also a participant. We beg you to please check properly. If we have upset you in any form we apologise. We can never vandalise Wikipedia because we know the importance to our existence as humans. We wont encroach in your space or stop the good work you are doing. This is the link to the project we are working onhttps://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikifactcheckers/participants.Thank you for your understanding.~~~Semmy1960(talk)07:32, 2 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry to be blunt, but you have no business training anyone in editing Wikipedia, considering how problematic your own contributions are. We hadWikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/IncidentArchive1095#Gombe editorsabout your edits and the edits of the people in your groups, we have above multiple articles being moved to draft space, and looking at your contributions, your most recent one isthisone removing the Category:Living people from a BLP, but instead adding a redlinked category.Fram(talk)08:28, 2 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
