Mirandese sample texts
[edit]I've seen that you have undone the change I did in this article referred to the asturian version in the sample text. I changed the writen "esu" to "eso", because it is the correct form to write that neutral form of the demonstrative in asturian language (you can see that in "Normes Ortográfiques" [[1]] and "Gramática de la Llingua Asturiana" [[2]], plubished by theAcademy of the Asturian Language;and I changed the "," too because in mirandese text appears a ",". Thanks for your attention, and I hope you can excuse my poor english.--Etienfr(talk)18:56, 7 February 2010 (UTC)
Mentorship
[edit]You may have forgotten that we worked together in developing one articleJosé Correia da Serra(seeRevision history of José Correia da Serra). I reach out today, in part, because of the "teachable moment" which informed your commentshere. In the months since I created an article about theTeachable moment, the topic has taken on an unanticipated personal relevance. In this context, I wonder if you might consider joining other co-mentors in a mentorship committee for me?
Our editing interests have little in common, but that may be construed as presenting an interesting opportunity?
Perhaps you might consider taking a look at an old edit atWikipedia:Mentorship#Unintended consequences? In the search for amentor deemed acceptable by ArbCom,I cite this as a plausible context for discussing what I have in mind.

Commons
[edit]Hello, how are you? In response to your message, a clarification: although it is possible to delete identical poor quality images that have no realistic educational value[3],commons is not wikipedia and the policies of wikipedia do not rule in commons. The images uploaded to commons must be freely licensed or public domain but they do not necessarily need to comply with the Neutral point of view and No original research requirements imposed by many of the Wikipedia sites[4],and so images in commons will not deleted simply adducing that reason. House of Braganza
[edit]Dear Ogre, thank you for the "good faith" and I think that you have a good faith too. I'm from Portugal, and I'm sure that my edition wasn't wrong, out of the grammar part... lghglhlglhgllh
Please, let's go to check the informations that I add:
- Maria II of Portugal- She have the last nameBraganza,inPortuguese:Bragança.
- TheBrazilian Imperial Familyis a branch of House of Braganza, which governed theEmpire of Brazilfrom 1822 to 1889.
- And about the history of the heiress to the throne of Portugal,Maria II of Portugal, was married withFerdinand of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. Therefore, the next heirs to the Portuguese throne should have thelastname:Braganza-Saxe-Coburg and Gotha.I thought... is a union of royal houses, that could be just speficied in the second paragraph? Because, the Braganzas dynastyc branch continued beeing the sovereign of the country until1910.I think that just one specification in the second paragraph it's onright.
- The rest are just grammar corrections.
Thanks, and if i make a mistake in the next edition of the article ofHouse of Braganza, please, correct for me. Sincerely, --Fernandoe(talk)19:18, 23 February 2010 (UTC)

Edit summary/talk page notifications
[edit]I appreciate what you were doing, but the reason we use the talk page with articles is to avoid situations like that, "Rv - the map you defend is not sourced, it is a mess of colours that in fact DO NOT refer to periods, it has gross errors (Tibet?!?) and it even has been abanoned by its author in favor of this one!" Why could you not have said that in the first place in your summary? It would have saved this discussion for a start. I do apologise for erroneously defending the map though, my bad.G.R. Problems with a disruptive rollbacker
[edit]Hi| I would like to evidence you the continuous rollbacks byuser:Colin Gleenof my wikification ofFerrol. My editings consisted in adding a standard infobox, removing all POV parts, purging some sections which had no role in an encyclopedia, and other format adds. The article is now decent and in the same path of most other Spanish cities ones, while this guy continues to restore his versions full of errors, unsourced statements, questions, unencyclopedical details etc. Thanks and good work. --'''Attilios'''(talk)12:40, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
- Ciao! It seems thatuser:Colin Gleenis now using a sockpuppet identity, user:Michael Peer,to restore his horrendous, antiwikipedic version ofFerrol. Can you stop him? By the way, this user is easily recognizable for he's dedicating himself only to Ferrol, with articles full of useful stuff but full of POV and amateurish digressions (for example, in an article about a journal published in that Spanish city, 75% of the text spoke about Ferrol's economic crisis...). Let me know and thanks in advance for help... --'''Attilios'''(talk)13:13, 8 May 2010 (UTC)
- I would notice thatuser:Colin Gleenis keeping revertingFerrol, Spainto his horrendous, unwikipedic version, now using another sockpuppet (see Ferrol:History for the new one). Is there any chance to block this crazy guy? Thanks and good work. --'''Attilios'''(talk)09:18, 27 May 2010 (UTC)

RE: Portuguese People recurrent editing
[edit]This adminstrator by the name of OGRE appears to have a SERIOUS racial problem and just by condoning the ongoing, repeated offensive about the Portuguese people, where invariably the Spanish always come out unscathed is immoral- you can threaten to block me or have me blocked as much as you want but I will not REST until this absolute nonsense is removed. If Iberia means 80% Spain geographically, if Spain borders with Africa and Portugal doesn't, if Spain was dominated by the Arabs 300 years longer than Portugal, if their language has over 4,000 Arabic words, their folklore, gastronomy, music, dances, architecture in one word, the Muslim world is part of Spain, how can you possibly try and "award" the genetics of this to Portugal? It doesn't make sense, logical or illogical, is of no relevance, is inconclusive an unsubstantiated and must therefore either be DELETED from the Portuguese People or moved into Spanish people. It is both a lie,a fabrication and an insult. Why do you think there is a border for almost 900 years? Because Portugal is Celtiberian, as is Galicia and Asturias:
All this RUBBISH must be removed:
There exists a number of studies which focus on the genetic impact of the eight centuries (less than six in Portugal) of Muslim influence in the Iberian peninsula (al-Andalus) on the genetic make up of the Iberian population. Recent studies show minor genetic relationships between some regions in Iberia and some North African populations as a result of this period of history. Iberia is the region in Europe which has the most significant presence of E-M81,[6] U6 and Haplotype Va,[7] although this influence may be the result of ancient demic processes that predate the Islamic presence,[8] and may constitute the result of some common western Mediterranean population background. In Portugal, North Africans Y-DNA haplogroups (especially the typically North West African Y-chromosome haplotypes E-M81) are found at a total frequency of 7.1 %.[9] Some mtDNA studies also found evidence of the characteristic North African haplogroup U6 especially in northern Portugal.[10][11] Although the absolute frequency of U6 is low (4-6%), Gonzalez et al. 2003 estimated a possible North African ancestry proportion of 27% in North Portugal, because U6 is not a common lineage in North Africa itself.[10]
According to some studies, the North African and Arab element in modern day Iberian ancestry is exceedingly trivial when compared to the pre-Islamic ancestral basis, and the Gibraltar Strait seems to have functioned much more as a genetic barrier than a bridge.[3][12][13]. However, one study using different genetic markers reached different conclusions. In an autosomal study by Spínola et al. 2005 that analysed the HLA genes (inherited from all ancestors instead of the paternal or maternal direct lineages) in hundred of individuals in Portugal showed that the Portuguese population has been genetically influenced by other Europeans and North Africans, via several ancient historic immigrations. According to the authors, North and South Portugal show more similarity (although the level is trivial) to North Africans in opposition to Centre which appears closer to other Europeans due to the fact that North Portugal seems to concentrate, probably due to the pressure of Arab expansion, an ancient genetic pool originated from several North Africans and other Europeans, influences throughout millenniums while South Portugal shows a North African genetic influence, probably of recent origin by means of Berbers accompanying Arab expansion.[14].
[edit] Middle-Eastern genetic markers in Iberia According to a highly criticized [citation needed] recent study that was published in the American Journal of Human Genetics in December 2008 by Adams et al., about 30 percent of modern Portuguese (23.6 in the north and 36.3 in the south) have DNA reflecting what can be a male Sephardic Jewish ancestry and about 14 % (11.8 in the north and 16.1% in the south) have a probable Moorish ancestry.[15] Despite alternative possible sources for lineages ascribed a Sephardic Jewish origin, these proportions attest to a high level of religious conversion (whether voluntary or enforced), driven by historical episodes of social and religious intolerance, that ultimately led to the integration of descendants. In agreement with the historical record, analysis of haplotype sharing and diversity within specific haplogroups suggests that the Sephardic Jewish component is more ancient than the Moorish one.[15] The researchers in this study have recently stated that their results may well be inaccurate and the conclusions reached less than tenable.[citation needed—Precedingunsignedcomment added byRicardochao(talk•contribs)16:43, 19 June 2010 (UTC)
Genetic ancestry in Rio Grande do Sul
[edit]Hello, Ogre.
Maybe you will be interested in this issue. InBrazilians of Spanish descent, this paper,by Brazilian geneticist Andrea Rita Marrero, is used as a source for the information that "Gaúchos [...] are mostly descended from Spanish ancestors, and less from Portuguese". As this runs contrary to mainstream knowledge about the region, it would be interesting to understand what exactly are the bases for the paper's conclusions.Another paperby the same scientist (in collaboration with others) gives more details about the subject. Could you please help us with this subject?
Thanks in advance.Ninguém(talk)16:57, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
Just a quick thought from a REAL Brazilian here: Most of those "Gauchos" down south DO have a Spanish ancestry, as the majority of the Gauchos in Rio Grande do Sul and Parana have lineages going back to Argentine and Urugayan ancestors. Recall the history of Uruguay? There is your answer.

Ibn Yahya Family
[edit]Hello - I notice you have contributed to the Ibn Yahya family wiki pages in the past. Were these pages built solely upon the genealogy provided by the Heymann family genealogy site? Were your contributions therein based upon the genealogy research of other families? Any help you can provide is appreciated. --Jimharlow99(talk)19:18, 23 July 2010 (UTC)
"Irrelevant" genealogies
[edit]The O'Neill are a royal family. Their descendants are in line of succession to their representation. For that reason, they should appear. Also, in every other royal and other pages the offspring allways appears integrally. There is no reason or policy for deleting them.Phoebus de Lusignan(talk)14:40, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
And what seems to be the problem with the Cardinals? Virtually all the pages in wikipedia mention the names of the parents. Even brothers. They are never deleted. Isn't some kind of exageration in there?Phoebus de Lusignan(talk)14:45, 24 August 2010 (UTC)
- I have to agree about the O'Neills. They are one of only three claimants to the vacant High Kingship of Ireland, and are still the rightful Kings of Ulster.Hugo Ricciardi O'Neillspecifically is their most active dynast and has even been in correspondence with the US government about a possible future O'Neill headed constitutional monarchy in Northern Ireland. [edit]Hi. This user has unfortunately created havoc among articles on British peers, adding all the titles they held in the introduction (seeCharles Gordon-Lennox, 8th Duke of Richmond). This will take a lot of work to revert. I don't know if it can be viewed as a clear case of vandalism but that's how I see it. This is obviously not someone new to Wikipedia even though he/she made his first edit under this name yesterday. Hi there. We're having a content dispute at the article above - the list of empires has a large 216 entries, and currently the article sees fit to repeat this list 6 times! Clearly a waste of storage and bandwidth. A better solution (saving at least 30% and making it much easier to read and use) would be a table with a column for each attribute, sortable, as used in many other articles (see the discussion). However, a silent editor keeps reverting attempts to clean up the article, without explanation. Please see thediscussion(currently nobody disagrees). Your comments would be welcome.—Precedingunsignedcomment added by81.141.18.207(talk)21:20, 2 December 2010 (UTC)

Ibero-latinida lingvaro (eo wikipedia)
[edit]Hello, I suppose that you are not fluent in Esperanto, though you twice modified theeo:Ibero-latinida lingvaroarticle there. I see a possible edit war arising there and would appreciate if you could give a brief explanation why you think the map aboutibero-romance languagesis inappropriate there. I realize there is a typographic error in the English description ( "penindula" instead of "peninsula", "arrond" instead of "around" ) but in the Esperanto wikipedia we care little about English typographic errors. Certainly you have more serious concerns. I read your first comment about "wrong map that confuses the dialectal variation in Iberia with worldwide usage of Spanish (with errors) and Portuguese". Apart from the fact that it is not in Esperanto and so excludes many users of the Esperanto wikipedia from the discussion I fail to see the relevance of your statement: the map shows the areas where several ibero-romance languages are spoken in Europe and on other continents. Why should such a map not appear in an article about ibero-romance languages? If it contains errors, please point them out. Of course they should be corrected or at least mentioned in a comment. In any case, thank you for contributing to the Esperanto wikipedia. –Umbert'(talk)19:59, 28 December 2010 (UTC)

The page as it was is not based on accurate historical or traditional use of the meaning of Luso-American it is based on opinion by the person who created it who does not give any citation or reference of any source or evidence to make their claims. Graf64(talk)16:44, 23 February 2011 (UTC)

Recurrent disruption in Reconquista
[edit]Hi Ogre! I see you intervened in theReconquistaarticle, and you may want to take a look at the ongoing dispute, which will be much appreciated, with a recurrent disruptive editor not adding anything, not improving the article, breaching edition rules (starting from the Civility rules) and pushing permanently his point of view, and wasting my time. Europe 10,000 Challenge invite
[edit]Hi. TheWikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challengehas recently started, based on the UK/IrelandWikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much likeWikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country likeWikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --MediaWiki message delivery(talk)21:09, 7 November 2016 (UTC)

Cut/paste move from a while ago
[edit]Hi, and thank you foryour contributionsto Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to giveAlemaoa different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, intoAlemão.This is known as a "cut-and-paste move",and it is undesirable because it splits thepage history, which islegally required for attribution.Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to bemovedto a new title together with their edit history.
In most cases for registered users, once your account isfour days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the"Move" tabat the top of the page (the tab may behidden in a dropdown menufor you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates aredirectfrom the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions atrequested movesto have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them atWikipedia:Requests for history merge.Thank you.HouseBlastertalk18:18, 29 August 2022 (UTC)
