Victor Vladimirovich Goryunovis a Russian mathematician born in 1956. He is a leading figure inSingularity theory,whose contributions to the subject are fundamental.[1]He has published several books and a variety of papers insingularity theory,finite type invariants,andLegendrian knots.Many of his papers inLagrangianandLegendrian geometryare now considered to be classical in the subject.[1]

Goryunov completed hisPh.D.thesis, titled "Surface projection singularities",atMoscow'sLomonosov State Universityin 1981, under the direction ofVladimir Arnold.He is currently a Professor of Mathematics at theUniversity of Liverpool.[2]He is an editorial advisor of the journalProceedings of the London Mathematical Society.
