Vizhinjam Cave Templeis an ancientHindutemple atVizhinjam,nearTrivandrumin southernKerala,India.[1]
The granite cave encloses a one-celled shrine with a loose sculpture of Vinadhara Dakshinamurti. The outer wall of the cave depicts unfinished reliefs ofSivaas "Tripurantakara" on the left and as "Nataraja" withParvation the right (the unfinishedPallavadvarapalakas[1]).
The temple is located about 17 kilometers fromTrivandrumcity centre. Vizhinjam served as headquarters of theAy kingswho ruled the southern parts of Kerala in the 8th century.
