VocalEyesis aregistered charityin England[1]that works with arts organisations across the United Kingdom to identify and remove barriers to access and inclusion for blind and partially sighted people. Established in 1998, its primary activity is to provide liveaudio descriptionsoftheatrical plays.[2]The organisation has subsequently worked with museums, galleries and heritage venues to deliver audio descriptions for exhibitions, as well as conducting research and training to increase disability-access to the arts.[3]

The charity has worked withOpen House London,[4]theRoyal National Institute of Blind People,[5]and theArt Fund.[6]

The 2012London Beyond Sightcampaign organised by VocalEyes recruited celebrities fromLondon,such asAndrew Sachs,Alison SteadmanandBarbara Windsor,to record audio descriptions of London landmarks so that they could be enjoyed by people who could not see them.[7]In 2013 the project won aJodi Award,for the best use of digital technology in widening access for disabled people[8]and in 2016 the recordings were released under anopen licence.

On 8 October 2008, it set theGuinness World Recordfor the "largest audience for audio described theatre", one hundred and sixty-eight people, at a performance ofLes Misérablesat theQueen's Theatre,onShaftesbury Avenue,in London.[9]
