Vyasakuta

Vyasakutawas one of two divisions (the other being theDasakuta) ofHaridasas,[1]a group within theBhakti movement,one of themonotheisticHindureligiousdevotional movementsfocusing on the spiritual practice of loving devotion to a God, calledbhakti.This generally means the worship ofLord Vishnu

History

During the 12th and 13th centuries A.D. during the rule of theVijayanagar EmpireinSouth India,theHaridasamovement spread from the area of modernKarnataka.TheLingayatismmovement, the term is derived from Lingavantha inKannada,spread the philosophy ofBasavanna,a Hindu reformer. The Vyasakuta were required to be proficient in theVedas,Upanishadsand otherDarshanas.[1]
