[edit]Anthony Pettiswas originally slated to faceRob McCulloughat this event, but was forced from the bout due to an injury, and was replaced by promotional newcomerKaren Darabedyan.[3]
A lightweight bout betweenDanny CastilloandAlex Karalexiswas once attached to this event, though it was later scrapped.[4]Both men remained on the card with new opponents, as Castillo was matched withShane Roller,while Karalexis was expected to face the debutingKamal Shalorus.However, Karalexis had to bow out of the Shalorus matchup due to a broken hand, and was replaced by fellow WEC newcomerWill Kerr.[5]
The event drew an estimated 414,000 viewers onVersus.[6]
