By day, WHYF is powered at 2,000wattsnon-directionalwith aconstruction permitfrom theFederal Communications Commission(FCC) to increase power to 2,500 watts.[1]The station broadcasts only duringdaytime hours,to protect from interferenceWGNChicago,theClass A,clear-channelstation on720 AM.
History
[edit]On March 7, 1985,the stationsigned onthe air. It used thecall signWWIIand had aContemporary Christian musicformat.
In July 2011, the station was sold to a group of Catholic broadcasters in theDiocese of Harrisburg,using the name Holy Family Radio, Inc. The call letters switched toWHYFon August 2, 2011.
