WHYF(720kHz) is a listener-supportedAMradio station,licensedtoShiremanstown, Pennsylvania,and serving theHarrisburg metropolitan area.It broadcasts aCatholictalk and teachingradio format,mostly fromEWTN Radiowith some local programs. It is owned by Holy Family Radio, Inc.

By day, WHYF is powered at 2,000wattsnon-directionalwith aconstruction permitfrom theFederal Communications Commission(FCC) to increase power to 2,500 watts.[1]The station broadcasts only duringdaytime hours,to protect from interferenceWGNChicago,theClass A,clear-channelstation on720 AM.

History

On March 7, 1985;39 years ago(1985-03-07),the stationsigned onthe air. It used thecall signWWIIand had aContemporary Christian musicformat.

In July 2011, the station was sold to a group of Catholic broadcasters in theDiocese of Harrisburg,using the name Holy Family Radio, Inc. The call letters switched toWHYFon August 2, 2011.
