Wittowis the northernmostpeninsulaof the island ofRügen.Wittow was a separate island until theHigh Middle Ages,but since then has been connected to theJasmundpeninsula of Rügen by theSchaabespit.Wittow is most famous forCape Arkonahosting the remnants of a formerRanitempleburgh.It was also known as 'Wittmund' or 'Witmond' in the 1700s.
