Wu Weihua(Chinese:Võ duy hoa;pinyin:Wǔ Wéihuá;born September 1956) is a Chineseplant cell physiologist,molecular biologistand politician who is the current chairman of theJiusan Society(2017–present), and a vice chairman of the Standing Committee of theNational People's CongressStanding Committees(2018–present).[1]He is also a member of theChinese Academy of Sciences.[2]

Biography

On 7 December 2020, pursuant toExecutive Order 13936,theUS Department of the Treasuryimposed sanctions on all 14Vice Chairpersons of the National People's Congress,including Wu, for "undermining Hong Kong's autonomy and restricting the freedom of expression or assembly."[3]
