Armament

TheYūshioclasswas a Japanese diesel-electricsubmarineclass operated by theJMSDF.It was a second generation submarine, a development of theUzushioclass,incorporating ateardrop hull,with a resulting increase in underwater performance on theUzushioclass. Ten were built under the fourth defense plan in 1975 fiscal year. A training submarine,Yukishio,was retired on March 7, 2008. All vessels were retired on the completion of theHarushioclassand eventually scrapped with exception of theJDSAkishiowhich is on display at theJMSDF Kure Museum.
