Yambe Island(SwahiliKisiwa cha Yambe) is protected, uninhabited historic island located directly east of the city ofTangainTanga DistrictofTanga RegioninTanzania.It is the largest island in Tanga region. It is located entirely with theTanga Coelacanth Marine Park(TCMP). The island is administered byTanzania Marine Parks and Reserves.[2]The island is also home to medievalSwahiliruins that have yet to be excavated.[3]
