Yishui County(simplified Chinese:Nghi thủy huyện;traditional Chinese:Nghi thủy huyện;pinyin:Yíshuǐ Xiàn) is a county of south-centralShandongprovince, People's Republic of China, Located in the central and southern region of Shandong, in the hinterland of Yimeng Mountain, situated in the upper reaches of theYi RiverandShu River.It bordersJuxianCounty to the east,Yiyuanand Mengyin to the west,Yinanto the south, andAnqiuandLinquto the north.Yishui County is a low mountain and hilly area, with the western and northern regions being low mountainous areas; The eastern and northeastern regions are hilly; The central and southern regions are plains, belonging to a warm temperate monsoon climate with distinct seasonal changes.There are many herbaceous plants, with woody plants mainly including black locust, pine, oak, etc.Herbal plants mainly including yellow backed grass, knot grass, thyme, etc. It is the northernmostcounty-level divisionof theprefecture-level cityofLinyi.

Yishui County has a long history, with primitive social relics scattered throughout the area.The Nanwa Cave site in the late Paleolithic period unearthed stone tools and deer antler fossils.Fine stone tools were discovered at 21 locations including the top of the dry cave; 35 Neolithic sites, including Guziding and Fengtai, have unearthed stone, bone, and pottery from the Dawenkou and Longshan cultures. In these sites, relics from the Xia and Shang dynasties were also unearthed.There are 43 open scenic spots above 2A level, including 1 5A level and 5 4A level.

The population was 1,115,927 in 1999.[3]

The permanent population in 2028 is 1.004 million.

The population in 2022 is 1.184583 million.[1]

In 2023, Yishui County had a household population of 1,185,570.[4]

Yishui County belongs to the warm temperate monsoon climate zone. It is characterized by a remarkable continental climate: the four seasons change distinctly.[8]

Main tourist attractions[edit]

Yishui National Wetland Parktaking Trekking Mountain Reservoir and Yi River channel as the main body.It is divided into five functional areas, including ecological conservation area, ecological restoration area, science popularization and propaganda area, rational utilization area and management service area.[9]

Former Site of Shandong sub-bureau of the Chinese Communist Party,which belongs to the provincial cultural relics protection unit.[10]

Jiwang mesa burial mound,the excavated artifacts mainly include jade, bronze, bone, pottery and lacquer ware. Not only bronze ritual vessels with inscriptions were unearthed, but also sets of musical instruments such as chimes and chimes and groups of jade vessels. In 2019, it was selected as one of the eighth batch of national key cultural relics protection units.[11]

Ruins of Muling Pass on the Qi Great Wallis the most famous pass on the ancient Qi Great Wall of China, with a history of 2,800 years. In 1987, the Qi Great Wall was listed in the World Cultural Heritage List.In 2001, the Qi Great Wall site was included in the fifth batch of national key cultural relics protection units.[12]
