Zack Estrin(September 16, 1971 – September 23, 2022) was an American television producer and screenwriter.
Estrin began his career as a writer and producer onCharmed,Dawson's Creek,andTru Calling,before serving as a co-executive producer ofPrison Break.[1][2]He was set to write the script of an ultimately unproduced spin-off,Prison Break: Cherry Hill,along withPrison Break'sexecutive producerMatt Olmstead,both of whom conceived the idea for the spin-off with fellow executive producer,Dawn Parouse.[3]He was also a producer on the filmStranger than Fiction.[1]
From 2018 to 2021, he served as showrunner on theNetflixshowLost in Space.[4]
Personal life and death[edit]
Estrin was born inWoodland, California,and raised inBrooklyn,New York.[1]His father, Jonathan, was also a screenwriter.[5]
Estrin attended theUniversity of Southern California.[2]He and his wife, Kari, had two daughters.[1]
On September 23, 2022, Estrin died while jogging inHermosa Beach, California,after apparently going intocardiac arrest.He was 51, and was not known to be ill.[6]
