Zombiis an Americansynthwaveduo fromPittsburgh, Pennsylvania,consisting ofSteve Mooreon bass and synthesizers andAnthony Paterraon drums.[6]The group makes use of looping to create multi-layered compositions. They have toured withDon Caballero,Isis,Orthrelm,The Psychic Paramount,Daughters,Red Sparowes,These Arms Are Snakes,Trans Am,andGoblin.[7]

They are currently signed toRelapse Records.In 2006, the band signed with Belgian record label Hypertension Records to releaseSurface to Airon vinyl.[8]

Moore was previously a member of Microwaves, a metal/no-wave band from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and has toured withRed Sparowes.Paterra is a former member of the Pittsburgh bandThe 1985.

Their song "Sapphire" was remixed by Norwegian DJ/producer Prins Thomas.[6]

Musical style and influences

Zombi's musical style was influenced byfilm scorecomposersJohn CarpenterandGoblin,electronic musicartistsTangerine DreamandVangelis,andprogressive rockbandsKing CrimsonandGenesis.[9]2011'sEscape Velocityshowed influence fromItalo-discoandKrautrock.[9]Following their 2013 tour with Goblin, Zombi's style became morerock-oriented for their following releases.[9]The band takes its name from the Italian title ofGeorge A. Romero'sDawn of the Dead(Zombi).[10]
