Talk Show Host

[edit]

_ _ I'm not sure Billy Crystal's sendup needs mentioning, but that article says

His most famous recurring sketch was his parody of Fernando Lamas, a smarmy talkshow host whose catch phrase, "You look mahvelous!" became a media sensation.

and it seems like that and his over notability would combine to make the talk-show thing encyclopedic, even if only Crystal remembers it.
_ _ But i've rewrit that as i understand it to be intended:

His most famous recurring sketch was his parody of Fernando Lamas. Crystal's "Fernando" is a smarmy talkshow host whose catch phrase, "You look mahvelous!" became a media sensation.
Why was this removed from the page? "You look mahvelous" is known by more people under age 50 than Fernando's actual career.

and now i notice that not only the smarminess, but also the talk show, lacks clear attribution to Lamas. Research needed!

Grandchildren

[edit]

I removed the list of Lamas's grandchildren, since they are all listed at their father Lorenzo Lamas's page already. Furthermore, it is misleading to say that Fernando Lamas was "survived" by his grandchildren, because none of them had been born yet before he died. --Metropolitan90 (talk) 06:15, 23 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"The Most Interesting Man in the World"

[edit]

I think it should be noted in the Popular Culture section that Fernando is the inspiration for Jonathan Goldsmith's portrayal of "The Most Interesting Man in the World" in those Dos Equis beer commercials. So that makes Fernando Lamas the "Most Interesting Man in the World" and that is worth noting. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jonbobsmith (talk) 17:24, 24 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
