On election day, 11 November 1811, formerDemocratic-RepublicangovernorRobert Bowiewas elected by theMaryland General Assembly,thereby retaining Democratic-Republican control over the office of governor. Bowie was sworn in for his fourth overall term on 16 November 1811.[2]
