History

TheBrisbane Timeswas launched on 7 March 2007[1]by then-Queensland PremierPeter Beattie.[2]The publication started with 14 journalists in an attempt by Fairfax to break into the South East Queensland market, competing against the website ofNews Corporation's incumbentThe Courier-Mail.

As of 20 November 2018,Brisbane Timeshas started a subscription model. Viewers are limited to approximately 25 article views per month before being faced with a newspaywall.

It is owned and run byNine Publishing,publishers ofMelbourne'sThe Age,The Sydney Morning Heraldand othermastheads,plus subject-focusedwebsitesand business-centeredmagazine titles.The founding managing editor wasMitchell Murphy;[3]the current editor is Sean Parnell.
