Charles B. Wessler

Charles B. Wessler(born May 16, 1955) is an American film producer[1]best known for his collaborations with theFarrelly brothers.

Life and career

Wessler's first job was as a production assistant on the filmCan I Do It... 'Til I Need Glasses?(1977). He was also a production assistant forGeorge LucasonThe Empire Strikes Back(1980) andReturn of the Jedi(1983).

Wessler spent time working atThe Ladd CompanyforAlan Ladd Jr.and atZoetrope StudioswithFrancis Ford Coppola.He soon moved on to produce specials forHBOwhere he hiredPeter Farrellyand Bennett Yellen to write a script for the 1987 special,Paul Reiser Out on a Whim.Wessler,Peter FarrellyandBobby Farrellywent on to develop several scripts together. Their first feature film wasDumb and Dumber(1994) forNew Line Cinema.In 1998, he was nominated for theGolden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedyfor producingThere's Something About Mary.[2]

Wessler's other producing credits includeIt's Pat,Bushwhacked,Me, Myself & Irene,Shallow HalandStuck on YouandThe Heartbreak Kid(2007). His 2010s films includedHall Pass,The Three Stooges(2012),Movie 43(2013),Dumb and Dumber To(2014).

In 2018 Wessler producedGreen Book,directed by Peter Farrelly. The film won numerous awards, including: theToronto International Film Festival's People Choice Award,[3]Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy,[4]Producers Guild of America Award for Best Theatrical Motion Picture,[5]honoree ofAmerican Film InstituteMovies Of The Year,[6]and theAcademy Award for Best Picture.[7]
