Dijon Duenas,(born June 9, 1992) better known asDijon,is an American musician and producer fromBaltimore,Maryland.[3]

Early life

Dijon Duenas was born in Germany on June 9, 1992, to a family in the American military stationed abroad. The son of aGuamanianfather and a mother from the rural American south of African,Native American,and European ancestry. His parents met in the military and during his childhood he moved several times back and forth between the United States and Germany. He never stayed in the same town for more than a couple years.[4]In the U.S., he's lived inCalifornia,Hawaii,Iowa,Kentucky,MarylandandWashington.[5]He attendedCentennial High SchoolinEllicott City, Marylandand graduated from high school while living in Germany.

Music career

Dijon's music career began as one half of the duo, Abhi//Dijon, which he formed with a high school friend, Abhirath Raju, while he was studying literature[5]at theUniversity of Maryland, Baltimore County.[3]Between 2012 and 2016, the duo released two EPs and one compilation. The duo released their last EP,Montana,in 2016.[4]Dijon moved from Ellicott City, Maryland toLos Angelesin the summer of 2016.[4]The next year, Duenas collaborated with the bandBrockhampton,providing additional vocals in the song "Summer" on their 2017 albumSaturation II.Duenas released his first solo EP in 2019 titledSci Fi 1[6]In April 2020, Dijon collaborated with musicianCharli XCXon the first song from her albumHow I'm Feeling Nowtitled "Pink Diamond", which he co-wrote and co-produced. Dijon released his second EP,How Do You Feel About Getting Married?in May 2020.[7][8]Duenas said he was influenced byLittle Feat,Burial,andLucinda Williams.[8]In December 2020, Duenas released a song titled "The Stranger", featuringJohn C. Reilly,Tobias Jesso Jr.,and Becky and the Birds.[9]

Duenas' debut albumAbsolutelywas released on November 5, 2021.[10]He collaborated with fellow musicianMk.geewho co-wrote and co-produced several songs on the album. Following his debut album release, Dijon also subsequently released a short film on December 22, directed by Jack Karaszewski. Dijon made his television debut onThe Tonight Showon January 27, 2022, performing the song "Big Mike's".[11]On June 26, 2022, Dijon's song "Many Times" was featured on former U.S. presidentBarack Obama's 2022summer playlist.[12]

He is credited as one of the songwriters onKanye WestandTy Dolla Sign's 2024 albumVultures 1on the track "Stars".[13]

Tours

Dijon opened forBon Iverduring the band's Spring 2022 tour, performing at theMesa Amphitheatre(Mesa, Arizona) and the Moody Amphitheater at Waterloo Greenway (Austin, Texas).[14]

In June 2023, Dijon toured withboygenius,Clairo,andBartees Strangefor theRe:SET Concert Seriesacross several U.S. cities.[15]
