Edgar Martirosovich Sevikyan(Armenian:Էդգար Սևիկյան;Russian:Эдгар Мартиросович Севикян;born 8 August 2001) is a professionalfootballerwho plays as aleft wingerfor Russian clubLokomotiv Moscowon loan from Hungarian clubFerencváros.Born in Russia, he plays for theArmenia national team.
Club career
[edit]Born inMoscowwith Armenian descent, Sevikyan joinedLevante UD's youth setup in 2017 fromFC Lokomotiv Moscow,after travelling to the city ofValenciato visit his mother, sister and brother.[2][3]On 22 June 2019, while still a youth, he signed his first professional contract after agreeing to a three-year deal.[4]
Sevikyan made his senior debut withthe reserveson 19 January 2020, coming on as a second-halfsubstituteforÁlex Blesain a 0–1Segunda División Baway loss againstCE Sabadell.[5]He was handed his first start seven days later, and scored his team's second in a 3–1 away defeat ofHércules.[6]
Sevikyan made his professional – andLa Liga– debut on 5 December 2020, replacing goalscorerJorge de Frutoslate into a 3–0 home win againstGetafe CF.[7]
On 6 July 2022, Sevikyan signed a three-year contract withRussian Premier LeagueclubPari Nizhny Novgorod.[8]He made his RPL debut for Pari NN on 9 October 2022 againstFC Torpedo Moscow.[9]
Ferencváros
[edit]On 17 January 2024, Sevikyan signed withFerencvárosin Hungary.[10][11][12]On 24 April 2024, he scored the winning goal againstNyíregyháza Spartacus FCin the semi final of the2023–24 Magyar Kupaseason[13][14]
On 20 April 2024, theFerencváros–Kisvárdatie ended with a goalless draw at theGroupama Arénaon the 29th match day of the2023–24 Nemzeti Bajnokság Iseason[15]which meant that Ferencváros won their 35th championship.[16][17]
On 15 May 2024, Ferencváros were defeated by Paks 2–0 in the2024 Magyar Kupa Finalat thePuskás Aréna.[18][19]
Loan to Lokomotiv Moscow
[edit]On 6 September 2024, Sevikyan returned to his childhood clubLokomotiv Moscowon a season-long loan with an option to buy.[20]
International career
[edit]Sevikyan representedRussiafrom the under-15 to theunder-20levels. At the time it was unclear where Sevikyan would play in his senior national career. Having talks with both the Armenian and Russian federations he stated that he still needed time to decide.[21][22]
He made his debut forRussian under-21 teamon 3 September 2021 in aUnder-21 Euro qualifieragainst Spain that Russia lost 1–4.[23]
Sevikyan was first called up to theRussia national football teamfor a training camp in September 2023.[24]On 31 August 2023, Sevikyan issued a statement saying he decided to representArmenia national football teaminstead.[25]
He made his debut forArmeniaon 12 October 2023 in aEuro 2024 qualifieragainstLatvia.[26]
