Elliot William Watt(born 11 March 2000) is a professional footballer who plays as amidfielderforEFL League OneclubBurton Albion.

Watt began his career in the youth academies ofLiverpool,Blackburn Rovers,Preston North End,andWolverhampton Wanderers.WithWolves,he made his professional debut, and spent time on loan atCarlisle United.He signed forBradford Cityin 2020, spending two years with the club before departing forSalford City.In 2024, he signed for Burton Albion.

Born inPreston,Watt has represented Scotland internationally for theU17s,U19s,andU21s,and participated in the2018 Toulon Tournament.

Club career

Early career

Watt began his career atLiverpoolbefore moving toBlackburn Roversdue to travelling problems. He then moved to hometown clubPreston North End.[2]He signed his first professional contract withWolverhampton Wanderersin November 2017.[3]

He made his Wolves debut on 28 August 2018 in theEFL CupagainstSheffield WednesdayatHillsborough,starting in the 2–0 second round win.[4]He was replaced on 62 minutes by future Portuguese internationalPedro Goncalves.[5]

On 1 January 2020, Watt joinedCarlisle Unitedon loan until the end of the season.[6]His first appearance for the club was in a 2–2 draw againstCardiff Cityin theFA Cup,playing the full 90 minutes.

Bradford City

On 27 July 2020, Watt joinedLeague TwosideBradford Cityon a two-year deal for an undisclosed fee.[7]In November 2020 he was one of a number of young Bradford City players playing in the first team who were praised by managerStuart McCall.[8]He was one of seven players offered a new contract by Bradford City at the end of the 2021–22 season.[9]

Salford City

On 27 June 2022, it was announced that he would sign for fellow League Two sideSalford City,signing a two-year contract.[10]Along with teammateIbou Touray,Watt was named in theEFL League Two Team of the Seasonfor the2022–23season.[11]

Burton Albion

On 12 June 2024,Burton Albionannounced that they had agreed terms to sign Watt following the expiry of his contract at Salford.[12]

International career

While aged 18, Watt was selected by head coachScot Gemmillto theScotland U21squad for the2018 Toulon Tournament.[13][14]The team lost toTurkeyin a penalty shoot-out and finished fourth.[15]
