The Bahamasis an overwhelminglyChristianmajority country, with adherents ofIslambeing a minuscule minority. Due tothe secularnature of the country's constitution,Muslimsare free to proselytize and build places of worship in the country. Adherents of Islam represent less than 1% of the Bahamian population.
History[edit]
Some of the early Muslim settlers in the country were brought as slaves fromNorth Africa.[1]In the 1970s, few Bahamian students embraced Islam while studying abroad and returned home to continue practicing.[2]
Mosques[edit]
The country houses the onlymosque,which is theJamaa' Ahlus Sunnah Bahamas Mosquelocated inNassau.[1]
