NGC 5087is anelliptical galaxylocated in theconstellationVirgo.It was discovered on April 8, 1788 by the astronomerWilliam Herschel.[2]It is a member of theNGC 5084 Groupof galaxies, which is a member of theVirgo II Groups,a series of galaxies andgalaxy clustersstrung out from the southern edge of theVirgo Supercluster.[3]
