Anon-commercial(also spellednoncommercial)activityis an activity that does not, in some sense, involvecommerce,at least relative to similar activities that do have a commercial objective or emphasis.[citation needed]For example,advertising-freecommunity radiostations are typicallynonprofit organizationsstaffed by individualsvolunteeringtheir efforts to air a wide variety ofradio programming,and do not run explicitradio advertisements,included in theUnited Statesspecific grouping of "non-commercial educational"(NCE)public radiostations. SomeCreative Commons licensesinclude a "non-commercial" option, which has been controversial in definition.[1]
