Theobturator canalis a passageway formed in theobturator foramenby part of theobturator membraneand thepelvis.It connects thepelvisto thethigh.
Structure
[edit]The obturator canal is formed between theobturator membraneand thepelvis.[1]Theobturator artery,obturator vein,andobturator nerveall travel through the canal.
Clinical significance
[edit]Anobturator herniais a type ofherniainvolving an intrusion into the obturator canal.
Theobturator nervecan be compressed in the obturator canal.[2]
The obturator canal may be compressed duringpregnancyandmajor traumatic injuries,causing obturator syndrome.[3]
