Old Rye(Danish:Gammel Rye) is a small town in easternJutland,Denmark,with a population of 1,578 (1 January 2024).[1]
Rye was a very importantmarket towninmedieval Denmark.In 1534 AD,St. Søren's Churchin Rye was the setting of theElection of Christian IIIasking of Denmark.Today, the town has been outgrown by the new town ofRywhich, like so many other towns in Denmark, sprouted up around a railway station.
