Peter Berkos(August 15, 1922 – January 2, 2024) was an Americansound editor.He received theSpecial Achievement Academy Awardduring the1975 Academy Awardsfor the filmThe Hindenburg.This was for theSound Editingof the film.[1]In 1996, he received the Lifetime Achievement award at theMotion Picture Sound Editorsawards. He also did the sound effects for the originalBattlestar Galactica,as well as the TV movies ofBuck Rogers in the 25th Century.

Berkos retired from editing in 1987, but reinvented himself as a novelist, with books published in 2007 and 2013.[2]He lived inRancho Bernardo, California,andturned 100on August 15, 2022.[3][4][5]Berkos died in Rancho Bernardo on January 2, 2024, at the age of 101.[6]
