Pakhtakor was the only Uzbek club to play in thetop-level Soviet football leagueand the only Central Asian club to appear in aSoviet Cupfinal. Playing in theUzbek Leaguesince 1992, the club has been the undisputed powerhouse in Uzbekistan since the fall of theSoviet Union,winning fourteen Uzbek League titles, including six in a row from 2002 to 2007. After his death in 2016, the administration ofShavkat Mirziyoyevrelocated the official workplace toKuksaroy Presidential Palacein northeastern Tashkent. The area of the palace is 5460 square meters. The1966 Tashkent earthquake(Uzbek:Toshkent zilzilasi;Russian:Ташкентское землетрясение) occurred on 26 April in theUzbek SSR.It had a moment magnitude of 5.2 with anepicenterin centralTashkentat a depth of 3–8 kilometers (1.9–5.0 mi). The earthquake caused massive destruction to Tashkent, destroying most of the buildings in the city, killing between 15 and 200 people and leaving between 200,000 and 300,000 homeless. Following the disaster, most of the historic parts of Tashkent had been destroyed and the city was rebuilt, based on Soviet architectural styles. Abdulla Qodiriy(April 10, 1894 – October 4, 1938) was anUzbekplaywright, poet, writer, and literary translator. Qodiriy was one of the most influential Uzbek writers of the 20th century. He introducedrealisminto Uzbek literature through his historical novels and influenced many otherCentral Asiannovelists.
