Samuel John Nivola(born September 26, 2003) is an American actor. He is the son of actorsEmily MortimerandAlessandro Nivola.His films includeWhite Noise(2022) andEileen(2023).[3]

Early life and education

Nivola was born at thePortland Hospitalin central London to British actressEmily Mortimerand American actorAlessandro Nivola.[1][2]He has a younger sister May (born 2010), who also acts.[1][4]Nivola spent his early childhood inNotting Hill[5]and subsequently grew up in the New York City neighborhood ofBoerum Hillin Brooklyn. He attendedSaint Ann's Schooland thenColumbia University.[6]

Career

Nivola made his acting debut in theSky Atlanticcomedy seriesDoll & Em(2013), starring his mother.[7]In 2021, he and his sister played siblings on an episode ofThe Pursuit of Love,a British miniseries based onNancy Mitford's novel of the same title adapted by their mother forBBC One.[6][8]Nivola wrote and directed a short filmNeighborhood Watchfor the anthologyWith/In(2021), which consisted of films shot on smartphones about life in quarantine during theCOVID-19 pandemic.[7][9]

Nivola and his sister played two of the central family's children inNoah Baumbach's filmWhite Noise(2022).[10]At the callback audition forWhite Noise,Baumbach had asked Nivola if his sister wanted to audition for the role she eventually played in the film.[6]The next year, Nivola played the son ofLeonard BernsteininBradley Cooper'sMaestro.[11]Also in 2023, Nivola walked the runway atParis Fashion WeekforMiu Miualongside the likes ofEmma Corrin.[12]

It was announced in January 2024 that Nivola had been cast inThe White Lotusseason three.[13]
