In September 2004, this station, then known asWBFA,flipped from acontemporary hit radioformat branded as "B101" to anurban contemporary/hip-hop musicformat branded as "The Beat".[5]In September 2007, this format, branding, and theWBFAcall letters were swapped with sister station WAGH. The station was assigned the WAGH call letters by theFederal Communications Commissionon September 4, 2007.[1]
