Yang Jin-mo(Korean:양진모) is a South Korean film editor. He is best known internationally for his work on multipleAcademy AwardwinnerParasiteas editor, which earned him critical appraisal and recognition including anAmerican Cinema Editors Award for Best Edited Feature Film – Dramaticat theAmerican Cinema Editors Awardsin 2020 and the 2019Online Film Critics Society Award for Best Editing.[1][2]This madeParasitethe first non-English-language film to win the top prize at theAmerican Cinema Editors' Eddie Awards.[3]He was also nominated for theAcademy Award for Best Editingfor his work onParasite.

Life and career

Yang was educated in theUnited States;he attendedCherry Hill East High Schoolin New Jersey[4]and he graduated fromBard Collegein New York.[5]His dream was to work forDisney.Yang speaks fluent English.[5]

He started as an assistant editor on many productions, then proceeded to be the editor of several well-known Korean films, includingBong Joon-ho'sOkja(2017), as well as films likeThe Tooth and the Nail(2017), the 2016 hitThe Age of Shadows,the highly acclaimed 2016 zombie thrillerTrain to Busan,the 2016 action comedyLuck Key,and the 2015 romantic comedyThe Beauty Inside.[5]He then became the editor ofParasite(2019), which earned him critical appraisal and recognition including anAmerican Cinema Editors Award for Best Edited Feature Film – Dramaticat theAmerican Cinema Editors Awardsin 2020.[1]This madeParasitethe first non-English-language film to win the top prize at theAmerican Cinema EditorsAwards.[3]He was also nominated for theAcademy Award for Best Editingfor his work on the film.[6]
