Şehitkamilis a municipality anddistrictofGaziantep Province,Turkey.[2]Its area is 1,290 km2,[3]and its population is 857,167 (2022).[1]It covers the northern part of the agglomeration ofGaziantepand the adjacent countryside. It contains the old city, includingGaziantep Castle,as well as theUniversity of Gaziantep.

On 20 August 2012,a bomb attackoccurred, killing at least eight and wounding 64 people.[4]

Şehitkamil was theepicenterof theMw7.82023 Turkey–Syria earthquake,which heavily damaged the district, including its landmarks.
