From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Parliamentary elections were held inBulgariaon 30 July 1893.[1][2]Following changes to theconstitutionearlier in the year, the number of members of theNational Assemblywas reduced.[1]

The elections were marred by riots inPeshtera, where attempts were made to steal the ballot boxes and assault thepresiding officer.[3]Violence also occurred inBelogradchik, where attempts were made to prevent the polling station closing until supporters of one candidate had arrived.[3]Voter turnout was low, largely due to indifference in rural areas where national politics was not considered of importance.[3]
