The Democraticprimary electionwas held on 8 September 1920. As no candidate won a majority of county unit votes, there was arun-offbetween the two highest ranking candidatesThomas W. Hardwickand the incumbentAttorney General of GeorgiaClifford Walker.Hardwick would eventually win the primary with 55.25% against Walker.

General election

On election day, 2 November 1920,DemocraticnomineeThomas W. Hardwickran unopposed and won the election with 141,681 votes, thereby holding Democratic control over the office of Governor. Hardwick was sworn in as the 63rd Governor ofGeorgiaon 25 June 1921.[4]
