The2007 CIS football seasonbegan on August 31, 2007, and concluded with the43rd Vanier Cupnational championship on November 23 at theRogers CentreinToronto,Ontario,with theManitoba Bisonswinning their third championship. Twenty-sevenuniversitiesacrossCanadacompeted inCIS footballthis season, the highest level of amateur play inCanadian football,under the auspices ofCanadian Interuniversity Sport(CIS).

Schedule

2007 marked the first year that the Vanier Cup and Grey Cup were played on the same weekend where they both took place inToronto'sRogers Centreas part of the95th Grey Cupcelebrations. Dating back to 1973, previous Vanier Cups had always been played the week following the Grey Cup.^[1]

Championships

The Vanier Cup is played between the champions of theMitchell Bowland theUteck Bowl,the national semi-final games. In 2007, according to the rotating schedule, the winners of the Canada West conferenceHardy Trophymeet the Ontario conference'sYates Cupchampion for the Mitchell Bowl. The winners of theDunsmore CupQuebec championship travel to the Atlantic conferenceLoney Bowlchampionship team for the Uteck Bowl.^[14]
