The2020 Delaware gubernatorial electionwas held on November 3, 2020, to elect theGovernor of Delaware,concurrently with the2020 U.S. presidential election,as well aselectionsto theUnited States Senateand elections to theUnited States House of Representativesand variousstateand local elections. IncumbentDemocraticGovernorJohn Carneywas re-elected to a second term, defeatingRepublicanJulianne Murray in a landslide.[1]

Republican primary
[edit]TheRepublicanprimary was hotly contested between Julianne Murray, an attorney fromGeorgetown,andColin Bonini,aDelaware State Senatorfrom the16th districtand the Republican nominee for theGovernor of Delawarein2016.Murray ended up winning the nomination. Although Bonini won Kent and New Castle counties, the latter of which is home toWilmingtonand is the most populouscounty in the state,Murray wonSussex County,which is the most Republican county in the state and overall had the most votes, allowing her to carry the nomination.
