The2024 U Sports football seasonbegan on August 23, 2024, with the defending championMontreal Carabinshosting theSherbrooke Vert et Or.[1]On the following day, fourAtlantic University Sportteams and sixOntario University Athleticsteams opened their schedules on August 24, 2024.[2][3]TheCanada Westconference began their season one week later on August 30.[4]
The conference championships will be played on the weekend of November 9, 2024, and the season will conclude on November 23, 2024, with the59th Vanier Cupchampionship. The Vanier Cup game will be held atRichardson Memorial StadiuminKingston, Ontario,for the second consecutive year.[5][6]27universityteamsinCanadaare scheduled to playU Sports football,the highest level ofamateurCanadian football.[7]
Manitoba kicker Maya Turner became the first woman to be named an all-star in U Sports football when she was named to the Canada West all-star team. She made 14 of 18 field goal attempts for the team, and made all her conversions.[8]
Schedules
[edit]On December 14, 2023, theRSEQreleased their schedule which featured no major changes from the2023 season,with five teams playing eight regular season games over ten weeks.[1]The regular season will start on August 23, 2024, and end on October 26, 2024. TheDunsmore Cupgame is scheduled to be played on November 9, 2024.[1]TheOUAnext announced their schedule on March 27, 2024, which featured 11 teams playing over nine weeks with the regular season ending October 19, 2024.[3]TheAUSannounced their schedule on April 11, 2024, featuring five teams playing over ten weeks between August 24 and October 26, 2024.[2]On May 2, 2024,Canada Westreleased their schedule with six teams playing eight games over nine weeks from August 30 to October 26, 2024.[4]

[edit]TheVanier Cupis played between the champions of theMitchell Bowland theUteck Bowl,the national semi-final games. In 2024, according to the rotating schedule, the Québec conferenceDunsmore Cupchampionship team will visit the Canada WestHardy Trophywinners for the Mitchell Bowl. TheYates CupOntario conference championship team will visit the Atlantic conference'sLoney Bowlwinners for the Uteck Bowl.[5]These games are scheduled to be played on November 16, 2024, while the59th Vanier Cupis scheduled to be played on November 23, 2024.[5]
