The66th Infantry Brigadewas aninfantrybrigadeof theBritish Armythat was originally raised, as the66th Brigade,in 1914 during theFirst World Waras part ofKitchener's New Armiesand served with the22nd Division.With the division, the brigade was sent to France in September 1915 to reinforce the British Army on theWestern Frontbut was instead sent to Greece and served in thecampaign in the Balkansfor the rest of the war.
The brigade was reformed, as the66th Infantry Brigade,in theSecond World Warin Italy on 20 July 1944. The brigade fought in theItalian Campaignwith the1st Infantry Divisionuntil 27 January 1945 when, with the rest of the 1st Division, it was shipped toPalestineand finallySyriawhere it ended the war.
