Associazione Sportiva Dilettantistica Imperiacommonly referred to as simplyImperia(formerlyA.S.D. Pro Imperia), is anItalian association footballclub located inImperia,Liguria and since 13 July 2012, after the disappearance from football of the formerImperia Calcio,the club is the main team of the city.[1]

In the2011–12 seasonthe club has played inSerie Dafter promotion fromEccellenza Liguria.

In the 2011–12 and in the 2012–13 seasons inSerie D,when the club was relegated toEccellenza Liguria,it has been the team more representative of theprovince of Imperia.[citation needed]

From U.S. Imperia to A.S.D. Imperia Calcio

The origins of football in Imperia go back to 1923 when was foundedUnione Sportiva Imperiaand refounded in 1987 asA.S. Imperia '87.

In 2008 by the last President Antonio Gagliano withA.S.D. Imperia Calcio,changing the name of the club Progetto Olimpia Imperia created in 2007. Since 2012 the club is disbanded.[citation needed]

The club was founded in 2006 asA.S.D. RivieraPontedassio 2006after the merger withRiviera Calcio Imperia(founded in 1970) andValle Impero Pontedassio,a club born in 1983.[2]

From P.R.O. Imperia to Pro Imperia

From Prima Categoria to Serie D

In 2008 the club merged withOneglieseandSanBart 80and changed its name inA.S.D. P.R.O. Imperia.P.R.Ostands for Pontedassio, Riviera and Onegliese.[citation needed]In 2010 the club changed its name toA.S.D. Pro Imperiaand was promoted toSerie Din the 2010–11 season, obtained by winning the promotion play-off ofEccellenza Liguria,[citation needed]after an ascent started inPrima Categoriain the 2008–09 season.

On 13 July 2012 the club was renamedA.S.D. Imperiafollowing the disappearance from football of the formerImperia.[3]

Colors and badge

Since 13 July 2012 the team has changed its colors from white (the historic color ofRiviera Calcio), black and blue to black and blue (the traditional colors of formerImperia).[citation needed]
