Agate Beachis anunincorporated communityinLincoln County,Oregon,United States.[1]Agate Beach is named for theagatesthat are found on the beaches of thePacific OceanbetweenNewportandYaquina Head.Agate Beach post office was established in 1912 and closed in 1971.[2]

Historically, the area's most famous citizen was composerErnest Bloch,who spent his later years in the community.[3]The 1914Ernest Bloch Houseis on theNational Register of Historic Placesand was once owned by the son ofAsahel Bushand his family.[4]

In June 2012 a 165-ton floating dock dislodged from the March 2011 Japanese tsunami washed up ashore,[5]creating a popular tourist attraction as well as an imperative to remove potential invasive species.[6]
