Robinson was first elected toLimavady Borough Councilin2005as a representative for theLimavady TownDistrict, alongside his father,George Robinson.
He was re-elected to the District in2011,and later elected onto the newly-createdCauseway Coast and Glens Borough Councilin the2014 local elections,representing Limavady. Robinson was re-elected to the Council in2019[1]
Robinson succeeded his father as an MLA for East Londonderry in theNorthern Ireland Assemblyat the2022 Assembly election.[2]
