TheAmgun(Russian:Амгу́нь) is a river inKhabarovsk Krai,Russiathat flows northeast and joins the riverAmurfrom the left, 146 km upstream from its outflow into sea. The length of the river is 723 kilometres (449 mi). The area of itsbasinis 55,500 square kilometres (21,400 sq mi).[1]The Amgun is formed by the confluence of theAyakitandSuluk.Its main tributary is theNimelen.[2]The Amgun teems with fish, such asSiberian salmon,humpback salmon,sturgeon,andcarp.TheBaikal Amur Mainlinerailway enters the Amgun valley from theDusse-Alin Tunneland follows the river 180 kilometres (110 mi) northeast toBeryozovywhere it turns southeast toKomsomolsk-on-Amur.
The Amgun was known asXinggun River( hưng cổn hà ) in Chinese. At its mouth is the village ofTyrwhich was a Chinese fort during theMingandQingdynasties.
